All of us experience feelings of loneliness, stress, and a deep sense of missing out. What we are feeling is a biochemical yearning for something that is missing in our lives, because there is something missing -- TOUCH, and the connection that it fosters with others.
Of all of our senses, Touch is the first sense we acquire. Our skin is our largest sensory organ. Most of us become familiar with the experience of “touch deprivation” at some point in our lives, whether or not we can name this feeling. Skin hunger is the deep longing or desire for physical contact with another person. Cuddlist exists to address and provide this basic human need in times of ‘famine’.
Creating a Safe Container for Cuddle Sessions
It is essential to differentiate platonic touch from sexual touch. Communicating one’s boundaries in a positive way and fostering an atmosphere of consent is at the core of each Cuddlist session. The session creates a safe container for specifically platonic touch. Cuddlist practitioners provide the experience of physical closeness without the complications or pressures of sex.
Cuddling is about being able to melt into the feeling of comfort and relaxation in the presence of another person who sees us as inherently good.
This feeling is tremendously nurturing, affirming, and healing. Furthermore, both the client and the practitioner share only consensual touch. Consent is a skill set that can be taught and practiced, and it has everything to do with boundaries and communication. Communicating clearly and directly creates safety, which is necessary for feelings of tenderness and vulnerability to show up. The combination is magical. Cuddlist practitioners focus on fostering communication, understanding boundaries, and practicing consent.
